It’s Over for the Philadelphia Eagles.
On December 2ndduring the 2011 NFL season the Philadelphia Eagles are officially finished.
Mathematically they are still alive, but in reality you can stick a fork in them. The only way the Eagles can make the playoffs now would be for them to win their last 4, and still the Giants would have to lose at least 3 of their last 5 and the Cowboys would have to lose 4 of their last 5.
That would make the 3 teams 8 and 8 and the Eagles would have the tie breakers to win the NFC East and go to the playoffs.
It’s a safe assumption to say that’s not going to happen, especially after watching the way they played in Seattle in week 13. The Eagles turned the ball over 4 times and were blown out by a very average Seattle Seahawks team.
Final Score : Seahawk 31 – Eagles 14
If you’re an Eagle fan, holding on to hope for this 2011 NFL season will only get you hurt because your Eagles are finally done for sure.
Now the conversation of who goes and who stays begins. No doubt, a lot of jobs will be lost lets discuss that.
- Will Head Coach Andy Reid be fired?
- Will Speedy WR Deshaun Jackson be sporting new colors next season?
- I think it’s safe to assume Juan Castillo will not be a defensive Coach in 2012.
Philadelphia Eagles Schedule For the Rest of the Season
Andy Reid
I can’t see how Andy Reid could possibly keep his job, he’s had a lot of success, you don’t become the longest tenured NFL Head Coach by luck, but with no Super Bowl Rings, and a huge disappointment this season he’s most likely a goner.
Juan Castillo
Juan Castillo is NOT a defensive coach, and even if by some miracle Andy Reid retains his Head Coaching position, Castillo is gone for sure.
In my opinion DeSean Jackson is not worth the headache. He’s a typical all about me WR that the Eagles don’t need. DeSean Jackson especially does not fit on a team that may be in rebuilding mode, and I’d be shocked to see him in an Eagle helmet next season.
Vince Young / Mike Vick
Back up QB Vince Young has proven he can still play despite being a turnover machine in his 3 starts. He’s still a viable number 2 to QB Mike Vick, who will be an Eagle mainly because no team would be willing to absorb that 100 million dollar contract.
Eagle fans maybe in for a long next couple of seasons, they may be in full blown rebuilding mode even though they were busting at the seams in 2011 with speed and talent.
How will it all play out?
There’s only one way to know for sure, and that’s to stay tuned.
